Pollution

While the big heads debate about pollution, what are you* and I going to do about it?

I'm hoping to use my cycle when commuting around in the neighbourhood.
I'm going to try to use the public transport to work more often.
I will not use my air-con if the weather is bearable.
I will turn off the lights and fans when not in the room.
I will try not to waste water.
I will ride my scooter in a way that I get the maximum mileage out of it.

Thanks, Joy for giving me the link to the article.

Hey what a great idea! Thanks for sharing that list :-)
I started gettin more and more inattentive to these "rules" during the last years because my mother ALWAYS told us things like that...

Wonderful. I just decided today to take recycling matters at work into my own hands! And yay for bikes. =)

It's so frustrating to think, if everyone tried as hard as this, the world would be a different place.

Excellent ideas for being more eco-friendly. We should all follow your example!

I moved into the house I did because it is walking distance to so many things. It not only is good for the environment it is good for my health.

public transport!? the electric trains consume more than 22mv electricity and the buses pollute the city more than anything...

its better that you adopt cycling or even walking is a gud option...

Tina - I know. It is so easy ignore these stuff especially when it said over and over again. Although small things, these do make a difference i guess.

Vitzy - I agree. Yay for bikes!! Recycling is another story entirely. Wish we were better at it.

TWH - Thank you. I hope to follow what i said i would myself...

Trish - I agree. Unfortunately my work is pretty far from where i live, but the rest of my life happens around home. I agree about the good for environment and the health bit...

CW - Maximum mileage to the best possible extent on the roads here. I tend to be an aggressive rider. I should cut down on aggression, zooming and breaking too often.

Using public transport means i am sharing the energy with a few hundred or thousand others. So, in the longer run, less power gets used. Chennai buses are getting better. We should commend them for it. Car pooling is another good idea for those who have cars.

Cycling and walking to work feasible when i live say around 5 km from home. Work place currently 12 km from work.

Good stuff! I think it's important to remind YOUNG people about why this is such an important issue, so besides turning off lights and walking more places, I'm teaching the kids in my class about the environment. And making them watch "An Inconvienent Truth"!
