I dont know. Could it be a marketing ploy to sell lard? I love the stuff, though--especially Lindts bar with the coconut. Why dont they call it vanillaness?
One of the first insane things I was told when I started telling people I was going to India was they do not have chocolate. My initial thought is that is OK..... Now I ponder, today I took for granted my hot chocolate drink, the chocolate syrup in the fridge, the Dark Chocolate bar in my sock drawer (hidden from Anna,) and that chocolate brownie was good too. I was not going to take any supply from home with me..... but maybe I should to offer to the natives to keep the peace.
Sandy - Vanillaness sounds great!! And i think they should get a bit more creative...
Ryan - Ha ha... We were talking about how many people still think that India has only one type of car (the Ambassador ones)! Hope you do know that we get chocolate here. Perhaps not in such great variety. But you do get good stuff. :) Anyways, you can bring me chocolates to make peace, i say!!!
Well...what can it be called then? white substitute for chocolate? chocolate without chocolate? chocolate for those who don't know the difference? I don't eat white chocolate like I eat regular chocolate but I like it in some forms. I never thought about getting maniacal about the name hahaha. just kidding.
Anju - I am not maniacal about it. Hmpf... I am just saying it shouldn't be called what it is not! And i choose not to say anything about your last comment. I am trying to be politically correct too. :P
Mahathma - Now what on earth is Whocolate?
MrCorey - I like the 'lite' bit but dont think it deserves the 'choc' bit... What say?
Why is it that everybody who has never left a big city or major highway in the USA knows so much about what is NOT found in India? Well that is another post isn't it...
White, milk or dark chocolate it is all yummy, it does not matter if you read everthing on the subject at Wikipedia or not.
Ok, bhuv, considering that you remembered me when you wrote this particular blog , I simply have to respond to it. See, here's the thing.. i dont see too many people complaining. Also, why is dark chocolate called so when it tastes extremely bitter? it's all in the mind!!
Hey Bungi...just dropped in ! So thought will leave a comment. I have heard White chocolate is indeed not considered a chocolate in some parts of America. They continue to CALL it chocolate though...and hey, may be vanillate wld make a good call name for the white choco-- ahem--xcuse me.. white candy bar I mean !
Me - Thank you! He he... I was slightly getting bored with my old template, although it was neat and 'stable'. This is fun. But guess i will alternate between sober and exuberant... Good to have you back!
Maddie - Dark chocolate still has chocolate in it...
Sandhya - Ah, at least some people are thinking... White candy bar. Now that is interesting.
damn! i missed the chocolate, whocolate, chocolite, chocowhite discussion... should drop by more often. now i'm sad, don't wanna add anything... ;) by the way, for me as a chocoholic, white chocolate isn't really my cup of tea.
Choconet - Yeah. I was hoping you'd be one of the early commentors. But that is ok... And yeah, i don't care too much for the white candy thingie either... Can't bring myself to call it chocolate... :D

Near Chocolate? Almost...?
Cocoa butter (cocoa fats), vanillin and lecithin... Pretty much that's... a base for real chocolate, no?
